Description:
It seems the MTA and Nassau County are TONE DEAF when it comes to the needs of the planet and folks who take the bus. The buses are late, packed, and too infrequent. And then there's the cuts. I take a trip to an area that will be LEFT WITHOUT BUS SERVICE once the N94 is cut. The very busy area of S.Oyster Bay Rd and Woodbury rd in Plainview is loaded with stores, 2 supermarkets, and office buildings. The MTA should be INCREASING service to this area, not decreasing it! Once the N94 is gone in June (they may already be taking down bus stop signs) the nearest bus will be ONE MILE away. What is this BULLSHIT? The MTA may have passed the cuts, but the FIGHT HAS JUST BEGUN. Call Ed Mangano at (516) 571-3131 and tell him not to leave riders stranded. He can restore the subsidy that has been cut to LI Bus by Nassau County. Maybe its time to invite the county executive and members of the legislature onto the buses, and see the conditions we put up with! But of course, we have one major problem, and that is alot of LI Bus riders are illegal day laborers and dont vote. And they were all over the place today. Landscaping of course. The folks that hire these guys dont give a shit about buses. Lets see how they do if TWU 252 walks out and no buses run at all, and they'll have to mow their own lawn and clean their own house and watch their own kids.
